EGMA - Campus for medicine and research in Galilee Association

As a result of a strategy developed at the Galilee (EU RIS project) the 15 municipalities of the Eastern Galilee (GMA) decided to form an Association, in order to deal with several fundamental issues for this peripheral region and advancing all aspects for further development in Eastern-Galilee region, both in economic and social aspects. As responsible for the infrastructure development of the region, it is deeply involved in the water and agricultural management in this area, since there is in Israel a regional government.
This association led in 2006 the initiative to develop together a regional strategy to foster economic development, based on innovation and entrepreneurship. The Association is currently very much involved in developing the establishment of the 5th School of Medicine and a national R&D institute, as well as other national projects relating to R&D and educational infrastructures development. GMA was involved in the SWAM RoK project and was very active in the implementation stages. GMA is currently involved in many national projects related to strategies for regional economic development. It is involved in GAL-EDGE project and also has a small project supported by the UIAC of Canada to develop its strategy. GMA was involved in the SWAM RoK project and was leading several important achievements. It is now advancing the establishment of the School of Medicine in Galilee with all the medicinal aspects as well as the economic spin-off activities. Also, GMA supports the development of the regional R&D Centre which will also deal with agricultural aspects and will have several Extension Farms for demonstration and supporting the farmers in the Eastern-Galilee.
